This article provides you with insights on using booking questions to track your customer's journey. The topics discussed in this article are the following:

Hidden Booking questions

When you create a booking question for an event type, you have the option to hide this question. This way, you can use the booking question and the connected custom token for tracking without showing it to the customer.

How? Add static information or dynamic data to booking links and hide the related booking question afterward. This works either via a default value or via prefilled information (see below). For detailed information on how to set-up source & conversion tracking using hidden booking questions, please refer to this article.

The information will not be visible to your customer or prospect, but it can be pushed to your CRM (HubSpot, Pipedrive, Salesforce).

Example: When you use booking links on your website and in different marketing campaigns, you can track which customer booked where.

Default booking questions

In general, you can set default values for booking questions.

How? Add a default value when creating a booking question by clicking on the three dots on the right. This works with hidden and non-hidden booking questions. When these questions are not hidden, it enables the customer to save time, but if necessary, the value can still be changed by the person booking the meeting. If the default value is hidden, the customer or prospect cannot change the value. However, you can use this value for tracking purposes.

Example: Thinking about the marketing campaign example again, you can easily add default values according to the different campaigns to track which lead got generated or which meeting was created via which campaign.

Prefilled booking questions

A way to have the booking questions prefilled is to work with URL parameters added to the booking link. Each booking question is connected to a token and as you add the URL parameter with the token slug and the intended value, you can prefill the answers to the booking links.

How? Simply add a "?" to the link followed by the token slug, "=", and the intended value. You can prefill as many booking questions as you want, just separate them with a " & ".

booking link + "?" + token slug + "=" + value + "&" + token slug + "=" + value ...

Please note: You can find the token slugs of your tokens here.

Example: Like the default booking questions, prefilled booking questions allow you to track which of your customer booked where.

Another way of using it is to be optimally preparing to schedule a meeting with a customer. The booking page from the following image will already have included the Host email, which will be the same as in the current meeting. Moreover, the guest mail, first and last name will be similar to the recent guest and its company name is prefilled.
