1. How to Join a Demodesk Meeting

If you're planning to join a Demodesk meeting, follow the steps outlined below to ensure a successful and seamless participation in the meeting.

A. Test your setup: Be prepared for your meeting and check your network connection here. Please keep in mind that a strong network connection, a good headset, and a quiet meeting environment will ensure a great meeting experience.

โ€‹B. Open the meeting link: To start, click on the link provided, as shown below, and open it in your web browser(for optimal performance, we recommend using Firefox or Chrome).

C. Introduce yourself: When entering a meeting, the initial step involves typing in the name you wish to be displayed, and afterward, you should click on "Continue" to advance to the next set-up stage, as illustrated below.

D. Permissions: Now please proceed to give Demodesk the necessary permissions to access your microphone and camera, as shown below. Remember to click "Allow" in response to your browser's permissions request; failing to do so will prevent you to use the camera or microphone during the meeting. If you need help with permissions, please refer to this article.

E. Test your set-up: Once you have granted the necessary permissions, Demodesk proceeds to test your microphone and speaker setup. To check your microphone, it prompts you to speak, and as you do, a blue slider moves accordingly. Additionally, your speakers are tested by playing a song. To move between both steps, simply click on "Continue" and choose "Yes, I hear it" if everything functions seamlessly as shown below.

F. The final touches: In the final steps, you have the option to open or close your microphone and camera before entering the meeting. As illustrated below, the camera is currently closed (red), while the microphone is open (green). You can click on the respective buttons to toggle them on or off. These settings represent the default configuration upon entering a meeting. However, once in the meeting, you can freely mute or unmute yourself and open or close your camera as needed.

G. Felling ready? When you're prepared to join the meeting, simply click on the "Join meeting" button displayed below. Afterward, you will either be directly entered into the meeting, or you will wait in the lobby until the host grants you access.

Upon entering the meeting, the control bar will appear at the bottom of your screen, providing you with the following options:

  • Meeting Info: In the bottom left-hand corner of your screen, you will be able to access all the meeting details including the meeting URL and the people currently in the meeting.

  • Chat: The chat button allows you to send a message to specific participants or to everyone in the meeting.

  • Share: Want to share your screen or a specific website? You can click on the "Share" button to do so.

  • More: If you click on the "more" button, you will find your audio and video settings and have to ability to change the meeting to full-screen mode.

  • Recording: In case the meeting is recorded, you find a red icon in the top right corner of your screen.

  • Leave Meeting: When it is time to end the meeting, you can click the "Leave meeting" button in the bottom right-hand corner of your screen.

2. Troubleshooting Tips

If you experience any audio or video issues while joining or during a meeting, please refer to this article for possible solutions. Before that, it's a good idea to do some basic checks as follows:

  1. Permission Check: Double-check that you have granted Demodesk the necessary permissions for your camera and microphone by clicking the lock button next to the URL in your browser.

  2. Camera Check: Ensure that your camera is not in use by any other program. It's recommended to close applications like Teams, Zoom, and other conferencing tools to free up the camera for Demodesk.

  3. Microphone Check: Verify that a functional microphone is available. If you are using a headset and it's not working, try testing the microphone without the headset to troubleshoot the issue.
